Houston woman accused of forgery in $3.3M credit repair scheme operation to defraud banks

A Houston woman was arrested Thursday after allegedly running a credit repair scheme that attempted to defraud financial companies of millions, authorities say.

Humble resident Roekeicha Brisby, 29, faces a first-degree felony charge for the forgery of a government instrument.

The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office accuses Brisby of fraudulently clearing credit reports by falsifying records and submitting them to financial institutions, court records show. She allegedly performed the scheme through her business, Rose Credit Repair, from roughly November 21, 2020, to March 2, 2022.

The intent, officials say, was to remove credit loans and defraud banks out of $3.3 million.

"During the search warrant, Constable Investigators observed advertisements for Rose Credit Repair that state they use the law to repair credit," Constable Mark Herman said in a release. "Clearly, this is not the case as the defendant violated the law in an effort to defraud financial institutions of a significant amount of money."

Authorities recovered documents and multiple electronic devices that will be used in the investigation, officials say.

Court documents show a total of 133 fictitious reports were submitted to a slew of financial institutions, including Ally Financial, Nevada West Financial, Discover Bank and First Credit Union, among others.

Ally Financial allegedly received altered police reports claiming to be from the Harris County constable's office for seven months, court documents say. The altered reports also allegedly included invalid case numbers and words that were incorrectly formatted.

The reports also allegedly contained information about the loss or stolen credit cards seeking to erase up to $980,000 of debt on behalf of 27 individuals, according to court records.

All of the reports were allegedly sent via a fax number that phone records indicate belongs to Brisby, records show.

Authorities are asking anyone or institutions who believe they may have been a victim of fraud by Brisby and her business to report it to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office at (281) 376-3472.
